Technology Meets Home Security with the newly launched Godrej Locks Advantis

In a tête-à-tête with us, Mr. Shyam Motwani, Executive VP and Business Head of Godrej Locking Solutions and Systems, tells us more about the newly launch Godrej Advantis.

Since how long have you been working on the development of Advantis and what are the key USP’s of the product? 

Advantis is a high-tech lock that sits neatly between science and science fiction.As its name suggests, this is a seriously advanced lock packed with space-age functions that are also simple to use. Advantis comes with a 360-degree fingerprint sensor along with a touchscreen. This system provides the highest level of security as everyone’s fingerprint is unique. Through the Advantis range, one can have 4 unique passwords for different members of up to 4- 12 digits. Another unique feature is the smart card option where 100 cards can be registered for multiple users. In case of emergency, the lock can be opened with a mechanical key. Advantis is the high-tech lock that works well for everyone, be it kids or elders. It is an art of crafting a beautiful and a complex lock with ease of use.

What are your thoughts on keyless locks replacing the traditional locks in the near future? 

India is leap-frogging in adoption of electronic solutions to door locks and various locking applications. With our focus on premiumisation & digital technology, Godrej Locks is at the forefront of this adoption drive. In large top eight metros, consumers are opting for electronic door locks. Our electronic door lock sales have been increasing on a regular basis. Moreover, we have observed a rise in sense of awareness for safety and security amongst the consumers. With people looking at upgrading their homes and hassle free tech solutions, the shift towards keyless and electronic locks will be significant.

How much is Advantis priced at and what are your target markets? 

There are 3 variants of Advantis with different levels of technology namely,

  • Crystal priced at Rs. 25,000/
  • Technosure priced at Rs. 38,000/-
  • Revolution priced at Rs. 43,000/-

Through Advantis, we are targeting homes in urban India who is design and technology conscious with respect to their homes.

There have been instances of cloning in the past. How reliable is the fingerprint sensor on Advantis?

Fingerprint sensors used on Advantis provides maximum security with easy-to-use. Area Type Sensor is used in Advantis with 360-degree fingerprint recognition which is very difficult to clone/replicate.

Any plans to come up with home security locks with Iris recognition? 

Currently, we do not have any plans for Iris recognition.
